Ares, lovingly known as “Stinky,” crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 28, 2026, at the age of 10.
Though our time with him feels far too short, Ares filled every one of those years with unwavering loyalty, laughter, comfort, and love. He came into his Mom’s life at just six weeks old and quickly became so much more than a pet. He was our family, our protector, our shadow, and his Mom’s first baby.
Ares had a personality that was larger than life. He greeted the world with enthusiastic tippy-tappys across the floor, made sure to alert us with a well-timed “boof” whenever something dared to move outside, and kept us on our toes with his mischievous adventures, including the memorable occasion he returned from outside proudly carrying a raw steak in his mouth. A steak, to this day, no one knows where it came from.
Through some of life’s hardest moments, Ares remained a constant source of comfort and companionship. His presence provided strength on difficult days and joy on ordinary ones. He had a way of making a house feel like house simply by being in it, even if that home was very loud. Ha!
Although, his Dad only spent six years with him, Ares belonged wholly to both his Mom and Dad. The love he gave was immeasurable to his whole cadre. Ares was one integral part of the zoo that included his baby brother Koda, baby sister Liberty, and big sister Dixie.
Ares leaves behind broken hearts, quiet floors, and an empty place on the couch and in our hearts. But he also leaves behind ten years of cherished memories, countless laughs, smiles, and giggles, and a love that will remain with us for the rest of our lives.
Run free, Big Bubba. Chase all the birds with your new wings. Bask in the sunshine, without the pesky baby gate. And know that you were deeply loved every single day of your life.
