Bruiser fought oral cancer for 4 years. We thought he may have cheated death and had a great 4 years after his diagnosis. Unfortunately, when I took him to the vet in early March for what I thought was an eye infection, we discovered it was caused by his mouth tumor which had grown and started affecting his sinuses. We took him home for a week to give him all the love. He was still playing and happy. When he started sneezing repeatedly, we knew it would be best for him to not suffer. Sadly, it coincided with the time his dog sister, Belle, needed to pass to the Rainbow Bridge as well. Bruiser was our first family pet and made it 17.5 years. Ever faithful, he would remind me of bedtime every night with a cooing meow and a leap up the stairs to lead me to bed. He always slept on my pillow, by my feet, or every once in a while with one of the 3 kids. He was the only pet child for a while and then reluctantly tolerated when our pet family grew. He did love Belle, our Great Pyrenees, though as he loved our previous English Bulldog, Monty, who passed in 2011. I hope they are all together in the most peaceful place waiting to see us again one day.
