If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

Hank was born on March 18, 2020, became our family on May 16, 2020 and crossed the rainbow bridge on August 24, 2026.

Hank was diagnosed with and ultimately Histiocytic Sarcoma – a very aggressive cancer that is unfortunately far too common in his breed. We had 2,291 days together and would give anything for a million more.

Hank was a special dog & if you knew him, you knew just how special he was. However, he was more than just a dog to us. He was our family, our best friend, our first baby, our “best dog”. He went by many names including Hankawoooonies, Hankers, Hunklebunk, Hankies, Hunk and whatever else we were feeling that day. Hank saw Matt & Jen through COVID, getting married, buying our first home and bringing home our first human child, Hayden. He was there through all of the big moments, but what sticks out more is all the little moments we remember: his helicopter tail & greeting you at the door with his bestie Pickles in his mouth anytime we got home; always following mom to bed & being the world’s best big spoon; stealing all the shoes of our guests that visit; laying in random neighbors yards, refusing to move & making snow angels in the winter; frolicking in the snow & burying his face in it; refusing to get his paws wet when it rained; huffing at us when he’s annoyed or being too loud when he’s trying to snooze; the certain smell he had & how comforting it was; how he wouldn’t jump onto the couch if one thing was even a little in his way; how he could destroy a new toy in the matter of seconds; how he would share side eyes with mom when his little brother would be having a tantrum; the evenings he loved so much of the original “3 musketeers” after his brother went to bed; demanding butt scratches and not leaving until he got enough; putting his head through your legs & giving you a “hug” with his leg; his willingness to protect us, but not know exactly what that meant. What we remember most is his big goofy, fluffy, lovable self.

Hank LOVED the cold, especially the snow.
He loved food – with some of his favorites being tortilla chips, turkey meat, greenies, apples, blueberries & anything his brother threw on the floor! He loved being a big ole couch potato and taking up more than half of our king sized bed. He loved going in the basement, because that’s where it was the coolest and laying on the cool floor. He loved playing with his toys & getting lots of pets, especially his belly, ears & as previously mentioned.. his booty. Hank loved a lot, but he mostly loved his humans and I just hope he knows we loved him more & will love him the rest of our lives.

Hank, you filled our lives with so much joy & we will remember you forever. Thank you for choosing us to be your safe place, your home & your family. We just wish we could have had more time together.

  2. Beautifuly said Jennifer, Hank was one in a million that’s for sure. He was the most fluffy goofy wrestling partner I could ever ask for. My heart aches for you guys so very much. My heart aches knowing he is gone and I can’t get anymore kisses. Please know you guys were the BEST parents EVER to Hank and he was truly LUCKY to have you guys as mom and dad.

  3. This is a beautifully written obituary for your handsome Hank. I can so relate to your expressed feelings. No, way can a dog who has made you their own be dismissed as “just a dog, get over it.” He was a very real member of your family. You will never get completely over losing him because he is embedded in your family history. Sending you a hug and a prayer.
