In Loving Memory of Oliver Finn
It is often said that we don’t choose our dogs; they choose us. Almost nine years ago, amidst the noise and energy of the rescue, one calm puppy sat waiting, choosing a path that would lead him straight into our hearts. From that first day, Oliver brought a steady, gentle presence into our home that never wavered.
Oliver was more than just a pet; he was a silent shadow, a nap enthusiast, and a devoted companion. He was a dog who understood the rhythm of our lives perfectly. He knew the best spots for a rest, whether tucked into the comfort of Waylon’s bed or claiming the prime real estate of Wyatt’s beanbag the moment company arrived. He was also a sharp observer of the family routine—nothing made him perk up quite like the specific chime on our phones. He knew that sound meant the location hit the driveway and his boy was finally home, a realization that always set his tail in motion.
While he was famously calm, all it took was the word “squirrel” to see the fire in his spirit. He would scramble out the door with a burst of energy, determined to chase his rivals up the nearest tree. But his favorite pace was the one he kept on his walks with Wyatt, side-by-side, enjoying the simple joy of the outdoors and each other’s company.
He was a master of the “long game” in the kitchen, too, patiently trailing Kristin with the quiet devotion of a dog who knew a treat was always a possibility.
Even as he faced the challenges of cancer and an enlarged heart, his spirit remained kind. He kept us in the dark that he was even sick so the day we heard the news it hit hard. His passing leaves a quiet void felt by us all—including Lyric, who still looks for his big brother to play, and Sonny, who now searches for a new best friend to cuddle with.
Oliver was a perfectly behaved companion and a “good boy” in the truest sense. He leaves us with a legacy of wagging tails, head tilts, and a heart full of smiles. Though he is no longer running through the grass or snoozing on the couch, the memories we have will stay with us forever.
Rest easy, Oliver. You were truly one of a kind.
I always lives when I would pull in to your driveway and you’d say “Oliver, Nanas here!” And he’d get all excited and jump up on the coffee table to look out the window.
And I also loved looking out our windows and seeing Oliver and Wyatt out for a walk. As soon as I’d open the door to call out Ollie would come running up and inside to see our pup Bailey.
Such a sweet puppy that will be so missed.
We shall see you one day Oliver Finn! ❤️🐾

This is so sweet. What a dear tribute to your beloved Oliver. Words just can’t describe the love between humans and our pets. I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤️
He definitely fit in with the Livingstone tribe. I enjoyed rough housing and playing chase in the backyard with him. He was a gentle soul that matched his gentle giant boy.
I will miss Ollie’s love bites on my hand when I would come into the house. Always a big smile on his face, he was the happiest doggy I have ever met. We will miss you Oliver Fin, such a good boy. God’s speed faithful companion, rest well.
Wow .. that was so well written. I am so sorry for your loss, he really was a good boy. Rest in peace Oliver, you are forever missed and will remain in all our hearts. 🌈🐾
