Zach (13 years old) crossed the rainbow bridge on May 30, 2025. The first nine years of his life were difficult, having been chained outside and abused by his first owner. He was surrendered to the Wayne County Dog Shelter in the early summer of 2021 and was adopted by Michelle Leighty in August 2021. On that first day being brought home, Zach was nervous and unsure of his new mother and bit her, but her love for him grew even stronger for him in that moment. Zach soon grew to love his new home and became best friends with his new little brother, Milo (cat) and helped take care of his new older brother, Rocky (dog). His other owner, Alen Sukunda, taught him not to fear men anymore and gave him so much love and treats. He soon became so loving to everyone he met. Zach loved living inside the house and often got zoomies while playing with Milo and his favorite stuffed bear. Zach loved to lay in the sun on the front porch during a cool breeze and loved to make his owners laugh with silly antics like rolling himself in his blankets like a burrito or wiggling himself under their feet for booty scratches. Zach loved cheeseburgers and believed that anything that went in mom and dad’s mouth belonged in his as well. Zach was the most gentle boy and was so polite when accepting food and treats.
Zach is survived by his mom and dad, as well as both brothers. His family would like to thank Cleveland Road Animal Hospital for their support and loving care of Zach through the years.
