Remembering Maverick

Maverick Gerber, born August 2021 crossed the rainbow bridge unexpectedly in our home on August 4th 2024. Maverick was a handsome red husky with the bluest eyes that could light up the world. Maverick came into our home in a unfortunate situation, we rescued him after finding out he was being abused by other animals and being neglected from previous owners. We adopted Maverick in August of 2022, we were not exactly ready for another pet to enter our home at the time but given the life he was living previously we knew we couldn’t leave him. Maverick became more than just a pet; he was family the day we brought him home. He was met by the other pets we currently had in the home Skywalker (our traditional black and white husky), Broadleigh (our beagle/ dachshund mix) who we adopted shortly before Maverick, our two cats Kit and Samuel and the quietest yet cutest bearded dragon Boba. Amongst the furry and scaly family members he had, he also had a human 2 year old brother named Jasper, and a human Mom and Dad who loved him so much. Maverick was always the first to greet us each time we walked into out home, we were met each morning we woke up and each time we walked into the door with the gentlest husky howl. Maverick knew no limits on love, each moment with Maverick you were met with the most radiant loving personality and an endless amount of love he gave despite his past. He enjoyed being pet and talking to you, he knew how to sit (especially when there was a treat in your hand) if you were having a bad day Maverick took away the pain with just one look or little husky howl. Maverick truly had the purest most loving heart a dog could everhave. Never once were you met with distain from him. He was wonderful to his human siblings and even enjoyed chasing his cat siblings around the home. Maverick truly stayed a puppy each moment of his life, he was full of energy and ready to go whenever you wanted him to. One of my favorite moments I remember with Maverick is actually with my other husky Skywalker, they were playing and Maverick just set his paw/leg on Skywalkers head and it took Skywalker by surprise and he had no idea what had just happened. Skywalker and Maverick had there nightly conversations each night husky howling back and forth. Even the night before he passed I heard them talking to each other and fell asleep thinking I would see him in the morning and hear that beautiful howl. Maverick would eat just about anything he could get his paws on but his favorite was truly cat food. Maverick was wonderful to my son and my daughter I welcomed into the world July 2023. My son enjoyed feeding Maverick treats and telling him he was a good boy, as he truly was such a good boy. Maverick has a very special place in my heart and will never be forgotten. One day when my life will surely end, I hope to be met with that precious sound of his husky howl he never fails to give. “ My heart will always wear the pawprints left by you.” -Unknown “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -Winnie the Pooh. We love you Mav, until we meet again

-Mom, Dad, Jasper, Charlotte, and your furry and scaly friends Skywalker, Broadleigh, Kit, Samuel and Boba

My family loved him so much. He was one of a kind. His blue eyes would truly shine and look into your soul. I’m very glad Ashley and her family cared for him in the way he needed. Rest in peace my friend.
