Nico (September 27, 2007 to May 5, 2025)
We rescued Nico from a high kill shelter in Goldsboro in 2007 when he was only six months old. What turned out to be a simple visit to view this little guy turned into the change of our lives. Nico was a feisty little pup (hint his nickname “pup-pup”) from day one running around dominating his big brother and standing his ground with the other pups with his little self.
Nico came home to us fitting in the palm of our hand and from that day on we were bonded for life and totally invested in this little guy.
Nico never liked being alone or separated from his pack.
Nico was a breeze to house train while we were at work all day.
Nico easily learned commands “sit, down, rollover, stay, shake, off, take, come, go get it, wipe your feet, bedtime, open, close, where is mommie/daddie, ready to eat, and need to go pottie” with ease?
My favorite commands Nico easily picked up was “where is the pretty boy?” and Nico would go and nose bump his puppy photo without fail every time and “close the door” after he would leave the bathroom door open.
Nico also made a lasting impact on all our neighbors and family over the years to where they would greet him or ask about him regularly even before inquiring about us.
Nico’s travels included, Wilmington beach, Virginia, South Carolina, Wesleyan College, Charlotte, Greensboro, Fayetteville and Lake Norman, NC.
And Nico of course was a great hotel dog always showing his confidence on walks to the elevator and greeting visitors in the lobby like he was a regular patron.
As you can tell we will miss Nico immensely as he left his presence in every corner of our home and our hearts.
I know that Nico was the center of your world. While you saved him, he saved you. Rest in doggy paradise Nico.
