Olive Applesauce

Olive Applesauce, the best opossum to ever exist, passed away in her sleep of natural causes in the early morning hours of October 26, 2024. She died as she lived – on her own terms.

Born in a human-permeated forest, Olive endured many significant hardships before landing in the safe haven of her fated family. She honored them with sixteen months of magic.

In addition to her human family members, Olive shared her life with many feline and canine companions. She recently helped the newest addition, a reformed feral kitten, adjust to housed life. Her favorite furry housemate was a dog with a past and a will to live rivaled only by Olive herself.

Olive’s passions included exploration, cozy dens (especially her credenza,) blankets, and food. She had a particular affinity for Brussels sprouts, broccoli, blackberries, cherries, yogurt… and applesauce. Olive also liked following her people’s feet, getting chin scratches, and giving snuffly nuzzles.

This gentle, sweet, and curious creature brought a sense of wonder and joy to all she met. Olive possessed courage and immense determination. Without making a sound, she declared loudly to the world, “I’ll live.”

She certainly did, and we’ll miss her.
