Zeek
- Date of Birth: 11/08/2008
- Date of Passing: 06/18/2024
I rescued Zeek when he was 2 from Animal Friends in my community, and from then on he has been the ruler of my house. Guests are told to not be fooled by his smile; it is a trick to get your defenses down before his sneak attack. He only loved 3 people, myself, my ex-husband, and my best friend. He was the typical Chihuahua, little but with the biggest attitude.
He loved playing fetch, going for walks, sniffies in the car, staring at you as you eat your food, getting treats at his favorite drive thru. His favorite activity was to snuggle with me, and give me kisses.
Zeek was diagnosed with heart and liver problems a couple of years ago and we spent so much time at the vets making sure he lived his best life. He was such a good dog, he waited for his mom that last day to show up at the vets to collapse and decide it was time to go to the rainbow bridge. He took the quality-of-life decision out of my hands. I was able to hold him and tell him what a good boy he was, and to thank him for being such a great companion. He lived to be almost 16 and had a great life (I think so anyway).
Exactly one week before I lost my baby, I got his face tattooed on my thigh and am thankful that I will carry him with me until we meet again.
I can no longer own dogs because I had the best and it wouldn’t be fair to another dog to always be compared to Zeek. My son is allowing me to foster his cat until I am no longer heartbroken, what a gift of love from my son, to give me something he loves so much to ease my heartbreak.
You will always be my baby Zeekers, Mama misses you so much.
