Today we said goodbye to legend among us, a soul whose spirit burned bright and whose presence illuminated our lives like no other. Jinga, also known affectionately as Jing Jing, Jingalinga, Bitch Puddin’, and Stick dog, was not just a dog but a cherished member of our family, a beacon of joy and love. We honor her by remembering her and all the great times.
How was Jinga a legend? Jinga is one of the dogs that the MAD Rescue logo is based on. 4 years ago, I gave Mo Eppley a photo and a drawing and she created a masterpiece. The two dogs were Jinga the Belgian Malinois and Zeva the Dutch Shepherd. Jinga was nearly 14 today and Zeva is not far behind that age. Zeva is still with us as it was not her time. They will both live in perpetuity as MAD Rescue grows stronger and thrives.
Jinga’s journey to us was one of resilience and companionship. She came into our lives as a rescue dog from Chicago, IL, a pup whom nobody wanted to adopt. Yet, in her, we found a spirit so vibrant, so full of life, that it was impossible not to be captivated by her. She embodied the true essence of a survivor, overcoming odds with her unwavering determination and boundless energy.
One of Jinga’s greatest legacies was her passion for dock diving, a skill she not only mastered herself but also passed on to others, including her beloved companion, Zeva. The photo shared here is the one that the logo was based on and the first time that they both dock dived. I like to call it the tandem dive. Jing Jing’s enthusiasm for life was infectious, whether she was chasing her playmates, sticks, or balls, her joy knew no bounds.
Jinga had a penchant for the simple pleasures in life, relishing her favorite treats from Tuesday Natural Dog Company and Vital Essence, and indulging in her love for bully sticks. Her antics, like collecting all her toys on her bed before bedtime, brought laughter and warmth to our hearts. Her quirky personality shown through in everything she did including always standing between Henry’s legs or the cute way she wrapped her paw around her head when sleeping or laying down. She was a character. Never has a dog been born that has more passion for blankets. She truly loved her blankets, the fuzzy the better.
As she journeyed through life, Jinga touched the lives of everyone she met with her boundless affection and unwavering loyalty. She never met a stranger, even today when the vet arrived at the house. And as she peacefully departed this world, surrounded by love, family, and her cherished toys, we find solace in knowing that she lived a life filled with love and happiness until the very end.
Though Jinga may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in our hearts and memories. As she crosses the Rainbow Bridge, she is greeted by a chorus of friends who have gone before her, ready to embark on a new adventure together. Twizler, Riley Bear, Kodi Bear, Zooomer, Brooke, Misty May and so many others who have gone before her, will be more than happy to play fun Malinois games.
Rest in peace, dear Jinga. You were more than just a dog; you were a legend, a friend, and a source of endless joy. Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, know that you will always be loved and remembered.
