Linus

  • Date of Birth: 11/13/2009
  • Date of Passing: 05/29/2021

Linus passed on 5/29/21 while on the operating table, after first being diagnosed with a ruptured tumor and internal bleeding just 2 hours earlier in Emergency.

Linus was born on 11/13/2009 and I adopted him from Michigan Basset Rescue on 9/21/2013. He immediately became a loved member of my household which included me, Parker (Shih Tzu), and Bailey (Pug). We added Mila (Himalayan cat) to our pack in June 2015; Linus was overly-excited to have a new critter to chase around the house, and he and Mila became best of friends in time.

Linus was known for his gentle and affectionate nature. He loved to cuddle and snuggle with any human, or his canine and feline housemates. Whether he was at home, or visiting someone else’s home, he always made himself comfortable by finding the nearest lap, couch, or bed, and he could always find himself a pillow too! He also enjoyed his time outdoors, with his nose to the ground and his bark at full volume. He hogged the bed, snored, and drooled. I will miss all of these things. The constant shedding, not so much.

Linus is survived by me (his “dad”), Parker (15), Bailey (15), and Mila (9); his canine friends Bao and Natasha; and multiple human friends, neighbors, and family members.

Linus lived a happy & healthy life, and was taken so abruptly and unexpectedly. My sweet, loyal companion will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Sweet sweet Linus... My beautiful "black velvet" ..I am broken-hearted that you are no longer in our lives but will always remember you as The precious, sweet, lovable and funny soul that you are. Thank you for your affection, enjoying my chicken, tolerating my long brushes, sharing my pillows, closet, and couch, and keeping Natasha "in check".😊 I am so glad that you found your dad Thomas, as he not only loves and misses you but provided the wonderful life, care and family for you that you so deserved...rest in peace..you will he home soon....

From all of the wonderful comments about Linus and his Dad, coupled with the couple hours I knew them, I can tell that Linus was a gentle and sweet soul. He was lucky to have Mr. Riddle in his life, and I'm sure he was just as lucky to have Linus in his. Not many four-legged family members get every chance possible, but Linus did. Although the end of his life came abruptly, he lived a long healthy life right up to the end. My heart goes out to his family and the loved ones he had in his life.
