Maize

Today our family says goodbye to our beloved kitty, Maize. Also known as Maize-O, Mai-Mai, Mama Maize, and Maize Rage, he will forever live on in our hearts as everyone’s favorite orange cat. He enjoyed spending time “cattin’ around” the yard and spent winters gazing into the fireplace. He was surprisingly agile for his impressive size and was playful even in his final days. After Elijah was born, Maize kept close watch of him at all times (earning him the nickname “Mama Maize”). Maize never missed bedtime stories and seemed to enjoy the routine as much as Elijah. Maize was the counterpart to his brother Blue. Together they were called “Thunder and Lightning”. Maize passed peacefully in front of the fireplace in the early morning hours. Elijah put it best when he said, “Maize kitty go see Blue kitty and Maize kitty give Blue kitty a hug. Them be at home.”
