About 5 years ago you walked up on our back porch looking hungry and tired. We immediately gave you food and water which became a nightly (and sometimes morning) routine which lasted for over 5 years. Several times you came to us very sick and weak. We would put antibiotics in your food and you would recover nicely. But in February of this year you came to us hurt and weak. We immediately began giving you antibiotics but you continued to get weaker and deep down I knew this was different. You slept on your chair with your blanket and heating pad all night which you had never done before. You let me get within a couple of feet of you which you also had never done before. When I realized you were having difficulty breathing and could barely eat, we made the decision to trap you and take you to the emergency hospital. They told us, given your age (approx. 10 or 11 yrs old), the extent of your illnesses and you being feral there was no way to treat you. So we made the painful decision to let you go peacefully instead of turning you back out into the wild to suffer. I know you never got to experience a loving forever home, but I hope you knew how much we LOVED you. I hope you are running free and happy at the Rainbow Bridge where we will see you again someday. We miss you terribly!
