Aka Simba, Boo-Boo, U-Boo, Puppydogmoose….

Moose came into our lives sometime in the early 2000’s. My sister and I never agree on the year. We found an ad in the News Herald offering puppies in the New Boston area for $60.
We convinced our Dad to let us bring him home. Around this time, Elizabeth Smart was missing. Our Dad would listen to Mike and Drew in the Morning radio show and apparently they would comment on one of the Detectives working her case. ‘Sergeant Mooooooose’ led my Dad to start calling everyone ‘Moose.’ Dad was Moose, you were Moose, I was Moose, the dog became known as…Baby Moose.
Eventually, Moose (Dad) and Baby Moose were inseparable. They went everywhere together…down to Belanger Park to sit by the river, to the beer store, or wherever the day led them. Baby Moose also started his own unsupervised adventures. He would run off and explore the neighborhood for days at a time and always seemed to find his way back home. There were times where he was found at the places he enjoyed visiting with us such as down by the river and Riverview High School. His runaways and aggression did land him in dog jail where he scaled the fence and returned home from Allen Park. He also survived being hit by three cars.
After our Dad’s passing (the original Moose), Baby Moose calmed down. In his later years he made many friends. The dog hated everyone until his brothers Blaze and Maxwell entered his life. His Dad loved him as his own dog son and eventually Moose loved too. His Dad sacrificed many sleepless nights caring for Moose when he needed it the most.
Some of my favorite memories include our long daily walks, rollerblading, wagon rides, all his nicknames, his summer lion shaves, making his Dad give him a piece of my food and making sure he knew it was from his Mom, and his dislike for his Dad when I wasn’t home.
Moose is survived by his Mom, Dad, brothers Maxwell aka Mr. Snack and Harley Horse, Other Grandma, Good Grandma, his Aunt Mamoo, Uncle Dougie, also his favorite uncle Daniel, and several canine cousins. Baby Moose his preceded in death by his grandfather the original Moose, great-gramma, and brother Blaze.
The day I have dreaded the most has came and went. Moose passed away at home in his Mom and Dad’s arms and was cremated. The memories we have shared over the last 18 years will remain with me and I hope get me through until I’m able to see you again. I find peace knowing you are able to run again pain free and are reunited with the ones I miss so much. I will love and miss you forever Moosemeat. Love, Mom❤️

Rest easy Moose! Remember on Wednesdays we wear pink and Fridays we wear plaid. Thanks for pooping on my bedroom floor and not the carpet.
