Last night we had to say goodbye to my best friend, my closest companion of almost two decades. Rest peacefully Sammy cat. Before you, I didn’t know it was possible for one heart to feel this much love or for one heart to break so completely. As much as you brought warmth and joy to my life, your absence makes me feel cold and cheerless. This house feels eerie and haunted and I don’t know when I’ll stop expecting you to materialize beside me. Nobody prepares you for how agonizing it is to choose between ending your baby’s suffering or prolonging your naive denial of his pain in order to buy more time with him. I like to think you are happy with my choice. I’ll love you forever.
