Uno Butler

Uno came into our lives back on July 1st 2009. Deanna wanted a dog and found a person that were selling puppies. So we went out and met this woman in a Greensboro Walmart Parking lot and we looked at a box full of puppies. we looked and Dee picked this small one, cute as he can be, that was less active than the others. She was thinking he was the calm one (she soon learned that wasn’t the case) and we took him home. Thinking of a name, I saw he had a big black oval in his white fur and it looked like an old school pack of Uno cards. And that’s how Uno got his name.

It was a struggle the first couple days, he didn’t eat and barely drank water. Got to the point where we took him to the emergency vet hospital. Come to find out he was younger than the woman told us he was and he barely off of nursing. Hence why he didn’t know how to drink water yet. He had a number of other things that could have been life treating. So us going to to that parking lot and her picking him in essence saved his life.

Once his health stabilized, he was nonstop ever since. If you know Uno, you know how excited he got anytime he saw anyone new. And when he knew you, o you’re his best friend for the rest of existence.

Interesting thing happened once Deuce was born. And this something that Deuce doesn’t know, but every time I would feed him or go check, Uno was right there watching. Watching over like he was making sure I was doing alright with Deuce. That’s why I laugh over the years when I think back. The only person that only would ever get snippy at was Deuce. But I just believe that was because he had to be the “big brother” and Deuce the “little brother”. When all else fails, where would you find Uno, laying between Deuce’s feet while on the couch or up in his face trying to lick him with that funky breath.

My man has experienced some thought times but was able to bounce back. That 12 pounds of guy was strong, determined, hard headed and…was my guy. I cry as I type this because I feel that’s there’s something I could’ve done better and I can’t anymore. All I know is that I guess Dee wanted some company and she called Uno name and he’s coming up there to keep her company. I’m going to miss you…My Guy…..UNO
