Saying our forever goodbyes to our beautiful Bella was one of the hardest things we ever had to do, leaving our hearts forever broken. She lost her battle with osteosarcoma. She was a very strong girl going through all the treatments, but sadly, this awful disease took our beautiful girl. We loved her dearly, and there was nothing in this world that we wouldn’t have done for her. She went on many trips with us; we never planned a vacation where Bella didn’t go on with us. She was the best dog we ever had. She loved to go to the beach, and she was the only dog we ever had who liked the water. She would stay out in the ocean, swim, and lay out in the sand. She loved to sunbathe and walk through the woods. We visited Tennessee many times, the Georgia Mountains, and Pennsylvania many times and made many road trips. She loved to meet new people, and when we got our new home in Sanibel, we didn’t have to worry about meeting the new neighbors; she would go right up to them and ask for pets. One day, she ran out the back door. Because she wouldn’t go far, I never had to worry about her getting loose like other greyhounds. She was at the neighbor’s back sliding door, looking in. The neighbor came out to see who was at her sliding glass door. “Bella sat down on her patio, and this is the first time I have ever witnessed her sit. She looks up at the neighbor to say, Aren’t you going to pet me? And the neighbor petted her. I had met my new neighbors for the first time. Bella never met a stranger. She was so full of love, and she loved everyone she met. She never once did anything wrong; she was a perfect dog. After the loss of our daughter’s death, she was my therapy dog. Whenever I felt down, she would be by my side, sitting next to me with a broad grin on her face, always giving me endless love.
We had planned a big birthday party for her 11th birthday, which was on Valentine’s Day, the day she passed away, but we were celebrating on Friday when her dad was taking off. But on the morning of her birthday, she took a turn for the worse. We had plans to see the oncologist for a follow-up, but they told us the cancer had spread too quickly and it was too late. We did all we could. She was such a trooper, going back and forth to the veterinarian and taking all of her medications, but the awful cancer took our beautiful girl.
We will cherish your memories forever. Run free, Bella, our beautiful girl; we will cherish your memories forever.
Forever in our Hearts 💕
