Pirate

  • Date of Birth: 04/15/2005
  • Date of Passing: 09/29/2020

Pirate Hills, dearest cat friend, passed away around 3:00 a.m. on September 29, 2020. She is survived by her friend and benefactor Lisa Hills, and companion cats Clark and Jack. Pirate was born in 2005. She earned her name from the fierce way she would scale the sides of the bathtub as a tiny kitten. Although Pirate turned out to be a pretty girly cat overall, the name always somehow seemed to suit her.

Pirate had charming ways and a humorous nature. She could make a wide range of amusing sounds, from “rawr” to “prrt” to “murf” to “moo,” depending on the occasion. An avid hobbyist, Pirate excelled at games like hide-and-seek, chase-the-flashlight-beam, and kick-the-catnip-toy. Pirate was also an enthusiastic amateur mole-hunter, and though she never bagged her prey, she was doggedly patient in the pursuit. Pirate’s joie de vivre also evidenced itself through an intense love of all sorts of food.

Pirate was devoted to her family and took special pains to drop in on her loved ones while at work, play, or napping to lend a supportive purr, petting opportunity, or face-washing. She was forever jumping up onto things and galumphing down from things and drinking loudly from the water dish. Her presence lit up the household with energy and fun and she is sorely missed by her human and cat companions.

Thanks to BluePearl Pet Hospital and Faithful Companion Pet Cremation Services for sensitive end-of-life care and to the Ann Arbor Cat Clinic for excellent health care services throughout Pirate’s long life. Arrangements will be made for Pirate to have a memorial plot at the Whispering Pines Pet Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
